We are honored to host a distinguished lineup of speakers who will address critical challenges and solutions in neonatal and maternal respiratory care.
Dr. Muawia E. A. Idris will present “Unseen Crisis: Challenges in Delivering Respiratory Support for Somali Newborns,” addressing systemic barriers, ICU access issues, and infrastructure weaknesses impacting survival.
Dr. Yusuf Dirir will present on “From Pregnancy to Delivery: A Clinical Approach to Fetal Respiratory Complications,” focusing on early detection and management of respiratory risks during antenatal care and childbirth.
Dr. Mohamed Amin will explore “Understanding the High Burden of Neonatal Respiratory Challenges in Somalia,” analyzing the contributing factors and limitations within the current health system.
Dr. Abdallah Mohamed Bashir will speak on “Key Interventions to Strengthen Respiratory Support for Newborns,” highlighting evidence-based practices such as oxygen therapy, CPAP, and training needs.
We’re also privileged to have two special guest speakers.
Dr. Ikraan Abdulle will deliver a talk on “Bridging the Gaps: The Urgent Need for Respiratory Care in Somalia’s Neonatal Units,”
while Dr. Dorothy H. Bendah will close with a powerful message titled “A Forgotten Priority: Why Respiratory Therapy Must Be Integrated into Somalia’s Health Agenda.”
