Global Health Alliance, through our dedicated Champions Dr. Muna Abdirazack Jama and Faduma Qasim Farah, successfully conducted Essential Newborn Care training for students at Bosaso University. This comprehensive session focused on critical newborn practices including immediate care after birth, thermal protection, early breastfeeding, and infection prevention—skills that directly save lives in the crucial first moments after delivery.
All students actively participated throughout the training, engaging deeply in discussions and practical exercises that demonstrated their strong commitment to improving newborn care in their future healthcare roles. This level of engagement reflects the dedication of Somalia’s emerging healthcare workforce to mastering evidence-based practices that will transform outcomes for mothers and babies.
This training embodies Global Health Alliance’s mission to build local healthcare capacity through constituency-led education. By training Champions like Dr. Muna and Faduma, who then train others within their communities, we’re creating sustainable networks of knowledge and expertise that extend far beyond any single intervention.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to our Champions, Dr. Muna Abdirazack Jama and Faduma Qasim Farah, whose outstanding efforts in organizing and facilitating this training demonstrate the power of community leadership in healthcare transformation. Their commitment, professionalism, and passion for improving newborn and maternal health play a vital role in equipping future healthcare providers with critical knowledge and skills needed to ensure newborn survival and wellbeing.
GHA is proud to work alongside such inspiring leaders who are making meaningful impact in Somalia’s health sector, proving that when communities lead their own healthcare development, lasting change becomes possible.
